Kalimpong

Kalimpong at an altitude of (4100ft) is a tranquil hill retreat. In the northern part of West Bengal, it is adjacent to the state of Sikkim. Undulating stretches of green deciduous trees and myriad verities of orchids are feast to eyes.

If you look forward to an idyllic hill stations far away from the touristy crowd, Kalimpong is the best bet. To much extent, it has been shadowed by the fame of Darjeeling. Maybe that has done some good to retain its unspoilt beauty. The city has managed to remain aloof from the hustle bustle.

The lofty Kanchejungha welcomes you as you travel to Kalimpong. The rolling green ridges at the foothills of the Himalayas are an enchanting treat to the senses. The idyllic Teesta and Rangeet flow by lending the region a rare beauty.

Delo Hills

The town centre is located on a ridge connecting two hills, Deolo Hill & Durpin Hill at an elevation of 1,247 m (4,091 ft). Deolo, the highest point in Kalimpong, has an altitude of 1,704 m (5,591 ft) and Durpin Hill is at an elevation of 1,372 m (4,501 ft). The River Teestaflows in the valley below and separates Kalimpong from the state of Sikkim. The soil in the Kalimpong area is typically reddish in color.

Flower Nurseries

One of the most famous flower nurseries located in Kalimpong is Universal Nursery, which is located at a distance of approximately 3 kilometre from the town. Another famous nursery located on the 12th mile street is the Sri Ganesh Moni Pradhan Nursery.

Durpindara

This is the highest point in Kalimpong that offers a breath-taking view of the rolling plains and the mighty Teesta. Zong Dog Palri Fo-Brang Monastery is located here.

Hanuman Tok

As the name suggests, Hanuman Tok has a huge statue os Lord Hanuman approximately 25 to 30 ft in height located on a hill top not very far away from the Science City. Here fantastic views of the both sides of the hill can be seen along with the Himalayan range. A small mandir of Goddess Durga is found right in front of the statue.

Situated 32 km from Kalimpong, a small town at the height of 6500 ft. rich in flora and fauna and suitable for natural excursions, bird watching and wild life.

Kalimpong Paragling is the most recreational and competitive adventure in the lap of breath taking Himalaya.The best time to enjoy Paragliding in Kalimpong for the  is dry season staring from september to April, During these months, the weather conditions are ideal, with clear skies and moderate winds. The Summer season should be avoided as it can be dangerous due to unpredictable weather conditions.
